very few free pop3 accounts available now...the best free one going now is gmail... Good luck

I agree. Gmail is probably the most popular email account that most people probably already have that supports POP3 email retrieval.
Yahoo, MSN, although, once did provide POP3 access for free, now require you to pay for that service.
If you have GMail already, you simply have to enable it. If you don't, go find someone that does and ask them to send you an invite or sign up for one at their website and activate with your cell phone.
