POP3 email and IMAP4 diffrence?

I understand that the diffrence between POP3 and imap4 is that imap4 keeps your email on the server and POP3 doesnt however i was wondering is it really true that POP3 doesnt or can it infact keep it?

POP3 email and IMAP4 diffrence?
Yes, it depends on the client, but most of the common ones I know of can be set to leave mail on the server after downloading a copy.

You'd want to be careful with this though as most pop3 servers, like your ISP, have much smaller limits on the mailbox size when compared to services like gmail.

The client can also usually be set to leave mail on the server till it is deleted from your local client, at which time it deletes it from the server as well.
