Is yahoo a POP3 or IMAP server and what is the incoming email server and outcoming email server?

I recently signed up with Yahoo and I'm trying to figure out how to run Yahoo through Windows Mail. I just need to find out if it is a POP3 server of an IMAP and what is the incoming email server and the outgoing email server?

he recent changes Yahoo has made has temporarily made ypops unable to download your mail. However they are working on a new version the will allow you to once again download your email with out subscribing to Plus!





As of today 4/13/08 they have a rough version available for testing. But it is not done or fully stable, I would wait.

If you want to use Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird or other third party email clients to view your email you have 2 options.


Subscribe to mail plus:

or download and install YPOPS

then follow the directions for your version of outlook here,

Click on YPOPS link on the left.


Then Click on Configuring email clients towards the bottom.


Choose the appropriate link for your mail client.





I currently utilize version 2.0.0.4 of Thunderbird
